Like the British that brought and bought him, the African is an organic and indigenous part of Southern culture and it is high time that we all look at our shared history with a bit more honesty and calm, remembering it all, but choosing to reflect upon and celebrate that which has made the South like that bowl of chili that burns your mouth so, but that you cant stop eating.

Hi Peggy,
This sounds delicious, I love aroma and taste of cinnamon however it comes.
Over here, in the UK, we would probably call this a cinnamon cake, as the ingredients you have listed, are the traditional mix that we would use for cakes.
You have no idea just how tempted I am to try this recipe, however all that sugar is just a bit too much for me!
The only way that hubbie and I have any chance of defeating the middle aged flab, is not to have the sweet stuff in the house at all, so I never buy cake, sweets or biscuits when I am grocery shopping, so that we can't be tempted!!
Thanks for sharing the recipe though and I hope that you enjoy eating the bread, I'm not drooling and jealous …. much!!

I know what you mean about being tempted, Yvonne! I don't bake too often. I only made one loaf so that's one cup of sugar divided among quite a few slices, but..sugar is the root of a lot of evil:) It smelled heavenly baking though!

I love cinnamon sugar. This would be good toasted for breakfast or a snack. I love that the recipe makes two loaves, one for now and one to freeze for later.
