Sheila Perry aka Cecilia Peartree

I came across this author over @ Evee’s Blog. She had read one of her Pitkirtly Mysteries for the Read Scotland challenge. So of course I went on a search for this new to me author.

Sheila Perry is a Scot who lives in Edinburgh. She is another author who couldn’t seem to get her books published in the traditional way and so turned to self-publishing. She has published two novels under her real name, Sheila Perry.

The Mountain and the Flood – a near future science fiction
Song of Vanora – historical fantasy set in 14th century Scotland

Sheila writes her mysteries under the pen name Cecilia Peartree. There are 6 in the cosy Pitkirtly Mysteries Series, set in a small fictional town on the Fife Coast of Scotland. Another series Adventurous Quest Series, and one stand alone mystery. The word quirky came up somewhere in describing her Pitkirtly series and I had to find them!

They are available from a couple different sources, Smashwords (you can read an interview with her there!) Amazon (UK) and Lulu Author Spotlight under her own publishing company McCallum Ogilvy Publishing. I got them in ebook format from Smashwords. The novella, Recycled, introduces the characters and town and is free as is the first novel in the series, Crime in the Community. Each of her other books are only 99 cents. You can purchase the books in paperback thru her publishing company at Lulu

Check out her Website and Blog.

As soon as I finish the second book in The Scots Quair, I’m reading Recycled and Crime in the Community. Stay tuned for review! Be sure and check out Evee’s review!

Have you come across any new authors in our Scotland Challenge?

By the way, try to stop by the Read Scotland 2014 Progress and Review page and visit the folks that have posted review links and comment on their blog post! Thanks!
