Puzzle Time

I’ve been laid up with a wicked upper respiratory infection this week.  Feeling a little better today but I think it’s settled in my chest now. I’m having a hard time breathing and it feels like a brick on my chest. If it doesn’t go away soon I’ll probably break down and go to the doctor. Yuck! I hate going to the doc. I’ve never had pneumonia so I don’t what the symptoms are. I think my fever is gone. Any whoo, a quick post so you don’t think I’ve disappeared again!

Finished Charles Wysocki’s A Delightful Day on Sparkhawk Island last week…

and am nearing finish on his Lobster Shack

I adore his puzzles and am collecting them. I find older, hard to find ones on eBay.

I have a vintage Scottish travel poster puzzle from Katrina to do still. Think that one will be next on my list. She says their pieces are different than ours so I’m looking forward to checking it out. And picked up a Ravensburger Puzzle of The Singing Butler at a thrift store. I love that painting!

Even if I can’t breath I can work at the puzzle off and on! I was looking forward to winter to do puzzles but it’s going to be in the upper 60’s for the next two weeks! What’s up with that? I’m just a northern girl at heart.

  1. Hope you feel better soon! Sounds like a trip to the doctor might be in order if you don't improve. We had the flu here right after Christmas and it was wicked. We decided it had been over 20 years since we had the 'real' seasonal flu. And I got a flu shot. Anyway, we are finally, finally shaking the cough. Take care!

  2. I imagine that that first one was difficult as there seems to be a lot of brown, they're both lovely though. Maybe the warmer weather will help you shake off that bug, I hope so anyway!

  3. Get well soon.
It seems to me that the “bug” in the Northern Hemisphere at present is similar to the one that was in NZ in our late winter (August '16) which took a good 4 – 6 weeks to fully recover from; it was said to be a 'flu virus not covered by that winter's vaccine here.
I know it was like a once-in-20-years bug for me.
So take good care of yourself!

  4. A trip to the doctor might be a good idea. I had 'a touch of pneumonia' about 15 years ago. I had a raging fever and a pain in my left arm, which took me to the ER in case it was a heart attack. It wasn't, but they didn't x-ray and so didn't catch the pneumonia for several days. I don't even remember any coughing, congestion, etc. A short course of old-fashioned antibiotics (not the new super ones that I can't take) took care of it. Please take care of yourself, Peggy.

  5. Valerie, Cath, and Joan, Thanks for the well wishes. Today I woke up feeling much more myself and its the first day I haven't had the heaviness in my chest. Think I'm on the mend!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.

  6. How is your health now? Sorry to hear you were so sick. A neighbor had a terrible cough and it was the flu that turned into bronchitis. So, go to a doctor if it persists.

Glad to see those puzzles. Who is the designer of the intricate puzzles with cats? I'm not a jigsaw puzzle-doer, but I really liked the cat puzzles. Am wondering to whom I can give one as a gift.

  7. I'm feeling much better, Kathy. Tire easily but will be right as rain soon.

I don't know anything about cat puzzles as I'm not a cat person. We like White Mountain puzzles too. They carry lots of lovely puzzles and you can search by artist or subject. Look it up online. We collect Fred Swan puzzles from White Mountain. He has Labrador or Golden Retrievers tucked up in his pictures somewhere.
