Just found out that there is a movie production of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s Sunset Song in the works! Due for release in 2015. I hope it is released in the US too. It promises to be visually stunning. Made by British film-maker Terence Davies. The film stars Agyness Deyn, Peter Mullan, and Kevin Guthrie.
Read about it here. Check out Terence Davies website here.
Four other Scottish based films were mentioned in this article. All sound good and I am going to try to find all of them to watch. Netflix does have a couple of them.
Under the Skin
Science fiction
A mysterious woman preys on men in Scotland leading them into a strange mating dance.
Sunshine on the Leith
Musical
Dexter Fletcher directs Sunshine on Leith; a jubilant, heartfelt musical about the power of home, the hearth, family and love. It is the tale of one tight-knit family, and the three couples bound to it, as they experience the joys and heartache that punctuate all relationships. And they do it all while singing to the euphoric music of The Proclaimers.
The Angels’ Share
Comedy
After avoiding jail, Robbie vows to turn his life around for his newborn son. He has a talent for discerning fine whiskeys, and he and his community service cohorts hatch a plan to lift a few expensive bottles to buy themselves a better future.
For Those in Peril
Drama
Aaron, a young misfit in a remote Scottish community, is the lone survivor of a strange fishing accident that claimed the lives of five men including his older brother. Spurred on by sea-going folklore and local superstition, the village blames him for this tragedy, making him an outcast amongst his own people. Steadfastly refusing to believe that his brother is dead, and possessed by grief, madness and magic, Aaron sets out to recover him…
Have any of you seen any of these and what did you think?

UNDER THE SKIN is the only one that I am familiar with… but have not seen it. It is based on a book from 2000. I am interested in both, maybe.

We saw The Angels' Share and really enjoyed it, it's a good film and storyline but the scenery is great too.

I'll have to look the book up, Tracy. Science Fiction isn't really my genre though. But it's good to stretch my boundaries now and then!

And it's the only one that is on Youtube full length for free!

I am a big Proclaimers fan, and will look for Sunshine on Leith. Thanks! The Angels' Share is on Netflix instant, too.
